Keith Page Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Wagners are generating tourism with the new airport at Welcamp.. Regards KP.
turboplanner Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 TP: live exporters compete with abattoirs for cattle, the abattoirs are worried the chinese will buy up all the stock. Sir Sidney Kidman, who died in 1935, owned 100,000 square miles of grazing country and had money in another 30,000. That's 340,000 square kilometres, or 400 million Sydney suburban home sites. S. Kidman & Co is still the largest private Australian land holder. Sid's DROUGHT LOSSES would exceed the current numbers you're talking about. Cattle stations have had a horrific time from city bred pc wankers and interferers for three or four decades now, but if this Chinese agreement starts to gather momentum, the cattle stations start getting an income, and they start breeding at full strength we are going to see wonderful things from the North which will dwarf the infrastructure we've seen from the coal mining industry - the news really is that significant when you think of the money which will be available for transport infrastructure, irrigation, feed production and so on. With money coming in the cattle industry will quickly move away from dusty stations with cattle wandering free and the bare minimum of water. 4
ExJourno Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Pretty close to the mark, FT. And that would be for the theoretical potential event to which you replied that there weren't many motels in Toowoomba, appearing to indicate such an event could not be supported by available accomodation. The answer, if there was a projected accomodation issue, could a temporary village from all those "left over" demountable mine camp site blocks, a tent city or any number of solutions... It would be down to organisers to work out, no? Look, FT, it just seems your SOP is to shit on anything and everything (I'll exclude Jabiru from that...). Perhaps you run business with an extremely cautious and exceedingly conservative vetting culture... maybe I and others musunderstand your position on things because of that... Serious question... what have you backed?
fly_tornado Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Adam mate, if I told you Toowoomba is the new Bali and if you don't get in early you will mi$$ out, would you believe me? The idea that Toowoomba will boom because of the airport is base on the notion that access to Toowoomba was previously difficult to access and this was the major limiting factor to growth. I'm not dumping on anything but you need to keep things in perspective. Spruikers spruik. Have you booked a ticket to fly out of wellcamp yet?
ExJourno Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I have not. However, this is solely because I haven't needed to. I will fly from Wellcamp on any route that suits as and when the need for those destinations arise. The time saving for Sydney trips alone will be well worth any extra fee, for me. Skytrans' schedule never once suited me, unfortunately. I tend to fly with minimal advance notice... I can't plan a month ahead, or even a week, generally and I need those early morning tickets... Incidentally, I am in touch with some businesses that have every intention of accessing freight services through Wellcamp.
ExJourno Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 And you have been dumping on Wellcamp, by any standard. Again, you've totally ignored the question. You understand the concept of a question, yes? Generally, you answer, not deflect and ask your own question by way of avoidance.
fly_tornado Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'm just a regular Joe with a regular job I'm your average white suburbanite slob I like football and porno and books about war I've got an average house with a nice hardwood floor My wife and my job, my kids and my car My feet on my table and a Cuban cigar 1
mnewbery Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'm singing the chorus in my head right now and it is not a pretty thing
ExJourno Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Yes, FT, you are an arsehole. I wholeheartedly agree, there.
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 just confirming what you already knew here's john! http://www.wellcamp.com.au/media/6827/2sm-jw-61114.mp3 1
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 TL;DL highlights Sadly John seems to deny the existence of Skytrans daily service from Sydney to Toowoomba for the last few years. Claiming lamb prices on the rise due to the airport. Conservative estimate of 2M passengers in 5 years. 747F will be flying in within months Wellcamp will be providing all services, including refuelling. passengers flying out of western brisbane and ipswich no curfew lots of opportunity for motel and restaurants application for 100 room motel on the airport in the pipeline now unlimited opportunities, progressive (development at any cost) city. Toowoomba "open for business" Wagners business is busy. racetrack is go, bigger than airport? pilot training with USQ Bachelor of Aviation Toowoomba is the new aviation hub get on the bus or get run over
Keith Page Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 F_T Good on Wagners.. Put in simplistic terms.. Put the sugar on the ground and the ants will then turn up.. How many ants turn up if there is no sugar?? I can see a lot of agriculture being exported from here..i.e milk, meat and veggies. Regards KP.. 2
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 We'll know if there is a freight market soon enough. Sadly Keith demand doesn't work like that, if it did everyone would be rich. Qantas project 85,000 passengers a year, you would think they would know the Australian market better than most.
Keith Page Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 F_T If one sits down all the time "Nothing Happens". If one gets off their but at least there is a chance of something happening. Look at the freight hub Welcamp is.. Produce will come for miles as Welcamp is a good exit point. Wagners got off their but and demonstrated foresight. Regards KP. 1
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Build it and they will come just doesn't work any more Keith, look at Avalon, on paper should be booming as it can tap into both Melbourne and Geelong for passenger traffic but its losing business to Melbourne. I reckon Wagner's did themselves a big disservice by avoiding the public consultation process, it would have highlighted the lack of demand. http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/news/geelong/jetstar-gives-geelong-eight-months-to-prove-avalons-worth/story-fnjuhovy-1226957770178
Keith Page Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I am back again F_T Your excuse-itis for the Wagner airport not working is very interesting. I am wondering --- once upon a time did Wagners sack you as their IT man? I was loading the planes with food items/produce.. =stuff to feed people.. I see you really pushing for people for the planes, yes, there will be people but produce will be greater. Avalon/Geelong/Melbourne is a different animal. It is not case of comparing apples with apples Just incase you may not have done the exercise, Avalon is the only airline there it is pain airline hopping in Melbourne. Regards KP.
turboplanner Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Avalon is a bit of a ghost town compared to the early days - too far from the customer volume
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Keith, I've never had anything to do with Wagner's apart from meeting Joe a few times. My only interest in Wellcamp is the threat it poses to TWB.
Keith Page Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Hi Turbo Toowoomba is far from a ghost town.. It is busy. Toowoomba is a service centre for people to the west the likes of Charliville, Cunnamulla, Roma and all in between. Just imagine all the produce they generate --- think about the potential for chilled beef. Fresh milk to China is being negotiated at this moment, how is the milk going to get to China quickly? Not boat -- but plane. See.......... I did not mention mining as it is on the slide... Nothing of this fly in fly out rot... What is next and it looks like produce/food. Regards KP..
fly_tornado Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 keith, do the numbers on all these products and you'll see they are very expensive after a 12 hour flight in a 747.
rhysmcc Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 love to see a 747 loaded out with live cattle 1

Keith we were talking about Avalon Airport and Wellcamp airport, and passenger traffic, were the high volume customer base is where the high volume lives, i.e. Melbourne and Brisbane. Freight is a different story, and Australian has been trying to fly food to Asia since Charlie Henderson bought a Beaver; the key has always been freight cost.
Russ Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 No......the emerging problem is a good problem.............getting fresh food reliably, and lots of it. Hello Australia, china calling.....you got it, we want it. ( it's that simple ) yrs back Asia in general were not favourable towards Oz, we are now emerging as the place to source food. Hell, they ( Chinese, Indonesia,Korea ) to name a few, are quietly buying up / leasing huge tracks of land here, NT in particular, many stations now Asian owned / leased. We here think/ plan 5 yrs ahead.....them other folks, plan 25 yrs ahead. Going to be interesting. 1 1
fly_tornado Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Air freight is set to boom. Those magic words that we want to hear, pilots, airports, old airliners suddenly all in demand.
