Keith Page Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 F_T.. Regarding diverting. Bit of info. remember a few weeks ago Brisbane had the real big storm........well.......some of the big fellows did orbits up to Biloela.. Just to get away from the storm and hale.. That is safety and they had to do that. That is what I call diverting, just think how much fuel they guzzled for the diversion, and how late their schedule became, plus the on going schedule they would be late everywhere and the fuel stops would have to recalculated. Regards KP.
fly_tornado Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 shouldn't it have filled up @ wellcamp? saves the diversion
Keith Page Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 shouldn't it have filled up @ wellcamp? saves the diversion F_T Airline are not know for thinking ahead.... Could have got the word "Get more fuel" as it left Welcamp... OR...........Most likely Welcamp is not contractored to refuel, going through the paper work now. Airline for some reason gotta have contractored fuel. Must make the fuel safer. KP.
fly_tornado Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Keith, your regular and business traveller would avoid Wellcamp to avoid the inconvenience of cancelled flights. the excitement is building Keith, international flights are just a few months away. http://brisbanetimes.com.au/business/aviation/toowoomba-airport-in-international-negotiations-20150102-12gzyf.html
dazza 38 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 It is that unusual for a RPT to divert. On more than one occasion a QL -8 has had to divert to Roma for fuel because of weather at Miles. Maybe twice a year.
fly_tornado Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 most passengers aren't concerned about safety all they care about is missing their connecting flights.
dazza 38 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 most passengers aren't concerned about safety all they care about is missing their connecting flights. yup and most passengers are dumb $hits who have no idea.
fly_tornado Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 exactly, they get stuffed around by Qantaslink twice and never go back to Wellcamp. The problem for passengers when you only have 2 flights a day, cancelling 1 flight is a significant inconvenience. At least if you have plans to fly out of Brisbane you can organise an alternative flight a lot easier because you are already planning to go to Brisbane. I imagine Virgin are looking at this situation very closely.

Just imagine the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, I can imagine going around in big circles one department hand it on to the next so they do not have to do the work then arrive back at the beginning no wiser --- just confused. Why don't you go give the pollies a bit about the 11 department saga ----- that would be more useful than being negative here. Regards KP
fly_tornado Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 keith, I am just telling you what's happening, not being negative, we all expect that there will be a few teething issues with a new airport. That being said though, Qantaslink cancelling flights in December is a bad omen for Wellcamp as its the peak of the tourism season.
fly_tornado Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I get a chuckle out of the comments after Alan Jones was going on about Wellcamp being a security threat during the G20.

turboplanner Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think that's about a year old FT, and it seemed to me a competition about how long you can hold your breath while talking. It's old enough that I thought some evidence would have surfaced by now. The driving force is that dear Heather didn't want those nasty engines frightening her horses, despite clear evidence of horses thriving on runway approaches at other major airports. I had a read through most of her work, and didn't really find any Planning scheme contraventions that would have helped her case which seemed to me to be based on the NIMBY principle.

Allan Jones just dumped a biggie on Campbell Newman yesterday even though he despises Labor
turboplanner Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 A Sydney radio jock taking part in an interstate election campaign? When you listen to the Wellcamp tape, you'd swear Campbell was guilty, guilty, guilty and I certainly pricked my ears up because it included one of our locals who moved to Qld, and became embroiled in a scandal, was sacked and I think is awaiting charges, but after months and months since this dynamite Labor has been unable to draw blood, so sometimes in planning matters: (a) they get away with it, or (b) the facts were just wishful thinking in the forst place. Victorian Labor's honeymoon appears to be over within weeks of the election. They went to the voters vowing to cancel a multi billion east-west freeway which the previous Government had signed contracts for. Cleverly they were able to point out to the voters that the contractors wouldn't mind at all, would gladly tear up their contracts, and when elected the new government wouldn't have to use any taxpayers money at all for compensation. Today it appears one of the most fiery meetings between the Victorian Government and its potential suppliers and bank financiers from around the world is over, and out of my pocket will be coming about 1.2 billion dollars compensation. It could be that some Victorians will be mildly disappointed in the people they voted for, and the story may well reach Queensland during the election.
turboplanner Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Nice little security story there, but that's Queensland. I drove past a nice little Jab a couple of weeks ago in central Queensland, parked on open ground within a hundred metres of a major highway. No fences, no impediment to driving an old Commodore right up the the plane and doing what old Commodore drivers do.
fly_tornado Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 No turbs, the real story is that the LNP had publicly stated that there was no Acland stage 3 mine going ahead and the LNP back flipped on it. as well as the LNP selling the school at Charleton off and extended Toowoomba mains water out to where the new industrial park is supposed to be going.

I only listened to the tape once, but if what you mentioned was on the tape, the job of Her Majesty's Opposition was to get on to any monkey business and expose it fast, rather than any of us trying to unravel it. It is not unusual for governments to encourage big investment by moving existing infrastructure, compulsory acquisition, and providing infrastructure to a project which will benefit the state. An example is the Victorian Government building massive power lines right across the state, and upgrading the Latrobe Valley power stations to supply about a quarter of Victoria's generated power to the Alcoa smelter in Partland. They key is whether due process was followed, and whether anyone cares.
dazza 38 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Allan Jones just dumped a biggie on Campbell Newman yesterday even though he despises Labor Alan Jones is a wanker 1
fly_tornado Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'm not a fan but you can't deny that he is hugely influential amongst LNP voters, its highly unusual for him to get involved in QLD politics
dazza 38 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The trouble with Jones is that he never sees the other side of the story. He makes his mind up on a subject, then he hammers his point. He IMO is very bias.
fly_tornado Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 that's what being a conservative is all about isn't it? the progressive mind are the only ones open to change
