Sav 4352 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Yeah FT was still nice to watch a Dash 8 waiting till a RAAF jet cleared the runway in an old bush strip.
M61A1 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 @M61A1 Any truth to the rumour that Oakey and Cabarlah are getting cut in the next budget? One that could have flown out of Amberly? :freaked: You need a lot of planes to make an airport viable these days, your armchair critics still haven't got it yet. What rumour? Did you start one? There a a few publications out there that discuss what's going on in defence, who has what contracts, where and for how long. Have a look and see if any mention such things.
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 did those publications predict the black hawks being moved from oakey?
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Sale/Lease of Oakey could open up a new airport in the region. My sister's inlaws are selling land in Highfields and Cabarlah and they keep hearing that the back half of the army base has been gifted to a party donor, they are also party donors. So the Cabarlah rumour seems legit but they also mentioned the helos leaving Oakey and a redevelopment
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I heard a rumour that some poster who made a lot of noise about Wellcamp on this forum tried to donate his brain to science but the universities claimed it wasn't his to donate. This came from my children's day care manager's real estate agent and we know real estate agents NEVER EVER start rumours. The rumour says the universities all agreed the brain actually belonged to someone they know as Abe E. Normal. So that rumour seems legit... 3

fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 TP its easy enough to manipulate the selling process.
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Matthew, converting Oakey into an airfreight terminal works almost as well as Wellcamp does but has a huge advantage due to the existing storage and maintenance infrastructure and importantly has trained human resources already living there. The only downside is a small drop in the numbers of passengers. Matthew, imagine 3 737s of Aussie beef and fresh vegetables leaving Oakey for Asian and Pacific markets everyday...
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Gifting state land (generally but specifically in NSW because I am looking at the crown lands act 1989 right now) is a big no-no. The NSW laws were further tightened to include community consultation in 2005. Regarding Commonwealth land: Read the DEQMS advice for yourselves here: http://www.defence.gov.au/estatemanagement/lifecycle/Disposal/Task2a.asp Here is the DOFD policy on land sale http://www.finance.gov.au/property/lands-acquisition/commonwealth-property-disposal-policy.html There will be no gifting. The rumour is a lie.
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 So now we know you've never been airside at Oakey too 1
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Matthew, you are so negative about developing Oakey, the people of Oakey need jobs and a future and the airport is a great option.
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The people at Oakey already have jobs and they are doing them all fantastically well. Please explain to the audience if the Oakey army aviation centre IS GOING TO BE redeveloped, sold or left where it is, as it currently is. Again, this thread is about W e l l c a m p
turboplanner Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 TP its easy enough to manipulate the selling process. Sure, followed by a decade or so of free accommodation away from society. And in this case Police have a head start thanks to your diligent tracking of the unscrupulous.
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 TP this might give you some food for thought http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/opposition-slams-sell-brisbane-cbd-buildings/1836449/ the book value was around $200M over the sale price. The TRC and BCC have been selling off land like no tomorrow
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 That was QIC which is not the state government. Their job is to buy AND SELL assets. QIC has nothing to do with Wellcamp or the actions of councils. Also, if the councils don't sell land they don't need, they can't collect rates or pay state stamp duty. Have you cake or eat it. Pick one or STFU
fly_tornado Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Calm down Matthew, the QIC acquired those building at $200M below the market value they can sell them at a nominal profit and still gift them to party donor. Put your big boy pants on
mnewbery Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 And the relevance to the thread title is? Tell us, we forgot. All of us, this time I think
mnewbery Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Meanwhile back on Planet Earth... http://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/international-flights-card-2016-wellcamp-airport-g/2913440/ Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport general manager Phil Gregory said talks were under way with Cathay Pacific Airlines to provide international passenger flights from the Toowoomba airport.
mnewbery Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Introducing the QRamp .... basically a motorised gang plank. The manufacturer produces these for wheelchair access mostly but this appears to be the first implementation for airports. Not specifically for Dash-8s. The 'Q' appears to be an unrelated coincidence. http://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/safer-access-to-planes-at-wellcamp-airport/2916618/ Has anyone seen a similar device at another airport?
mnewbery Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Air North bookings delayed somewhat. No explanation as to why the schedule change was delayed UPDATE: Tickets for direct flights from Wellcamp airport to Melbourne and Cairns will not go on sale tomorrow as announced today (forum poster: "meaning 7th January 2016") Tickets will instead go on sale from January 12 for the flights, which start on March 14. http://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/wellcamp-airport-melbourne-cairns-tickets-sale/2891047/
jetjr Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Q Ramps have been used at Sydney by Qantaslink for sometime 1
mnewbery Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking/2016/02/24/qantaslink-increases-flights-to-wellcamp/ Qantaslink will lift its frequency between Sydney and Wellcamp airport, near Toowoomba, to daily double on Mondays and Wednesday from 29 February, as the new airport says travellers it (edit: and F_T) never expected to see start flying the route.
fly_tornado Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 15 flights a week! massive http://www.afr.com/news/politics/john-wagner-warns-of-northern-australia-loans-red-tape-20160121-gmb8ym
