Guest john Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 It is recognised throughout the aviation world, that today being the 20/6/2014 in the southern hemisphere, that this is the shortest day of the year. It is also known as "MOTHERINLAW DAY', that is because it is the one day throughout the year that us good people visit our tolerant loving motherinlaw.
bexrbetter Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 You would think they would bring daylight savings in at this time of year to get that extra hour of daylight wouldn't you.
Admin Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The shortest day of the year occurs between the 20th and the 22nd depending on what year...southern hemisphere is 20th or 21st and northern hemisphere is 21st or 22nd. The average of the 21st is used as the shortest day around the world in both hemisphers. I know this why...because it is my birthday ...my mother in law is in New Zealand far enough away to satisfy me and close enough to be able to just send the wife away for a few Museum Victoria Winter Solstice (AEST) 2012 June 21, 9:09 am 2013 June 21, 3:04 pm 2014 June 21, 8:51 pm
