JUSTNUZZA Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Does anyone know if the ACS key switch can be rewired to run on one mag in the start position ?
facthunter Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I don't know, but I would prefer two switches and a start button Nev 1
SDQDI Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Why would want to JN? Don't know about others but starting on one mag is a loft softer with the rotax also with shutdown always one shut off just before the other seems a fair bit gentler 1
JUSTNUZZA Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 I want to install the Bullyhawk soft start module which requires one mag to be not operating at startup. Why would want to JN? T
facthunter Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 It is certainly better on shutdown. Less clunking due lower revs. Nev
Downunder Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 There were also issues with Rotax mags not firing at low RPM. You only found out one had failed when the second failed (starting on both mags). I now start on alternate mags. A few threads on this forum about it I think. Personally, I don't think you can beat individual mag (toggle) switches and a starter key/button.. 3
jetboy Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 The ACS switch comes with instructions for starting with only one active mag, which is the usual configuration on lycoming engines. If I remenber correctly there is a link wire to connect to another terminal - so it earths out the unwanted mag when the key is turned to "start"
