Wjohnmid Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I know this has been done to death but are rec flying head sets any good.
Ferris Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Yes, they are good value for money, but recognise they are at the lower end of the market and most pilots will eventually get something better. I have two sets, but keep them for passengers these days. 3

ayavner Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I've had my set for a couple years now and they are still doing great! I find them very comfy.
coljones Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The other thing to consider is earmuff comfort. My DCs have soft undercut gel earmuffs which make them very comfortable, much more so than the standard headsets at my local school. After an hour our so I become grumpy with the standard muffs. I suggest, if you can, try a range of headsets for performance, fit and comfort. make sure you can get spares and preferably a range of muffs as they do get gungy. Nothing worse than arriving after a long trip with ears bent out of shape and tingling.
Downunder Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The rec flying headsets may have the potential to fit an ANR kit too which may give you cheaper but effectve alternative.
