gibby Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 today show this morning shows a jabiru down south of Brisbane, both pilot and pax walked away
fly_tornado Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 beautiful morning for a fly. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/plane-crashes-in-field-at-runcorn-on-brisbanes-southside/story-fnihsrf2-1227006703202
aj_richo Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Flying out of/into Archerfield? Would be VH registered? Good job.. looks pretty built up around there
Bandit12 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I think it was 24-7984, just caught it on Channel 9. 1
davebutler Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 It looks like Jabbie. There are some RA-Aus registered Jabbies operated by a flying school at YBAF. If it is 1 from the flying school this will be the second one with an engine out. I also saw a private owned Jabbie parked at AF the other day. Glad all are OK, good outcome, excellent flying getting in that spot:score 010: I see our esteemed, well informed media are reporting it as a Cessna... again:angry: 1
facthunter Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 From the Cess pool of their aviation minds. Nev 1
quentas Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Calling it a Cessna takes the heat off maybe? Glad they are ok.
fly_tornado Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Be interesting to see if Jab can fix that and get it flying again, major damage.
ave8rr Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Again its good see the "Jab" fuselage is intact. They certainly are strong in that area. Glad both occupants are ok. We await the reason for the forced landing. 1
NovemberFoxtrot Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Its the same plane that had the engine failure at victoria point a few months/ a year ago. And yes, its out of the RA-AUS school at Archerfield. http://www.recreationalflying.com/posts/307129/
winsor68 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Jabiru has a great crash test program. Can't argue they are best in class in that regard. 2 3
fly_tornado Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Be interesting to hear what brought it down, surely they replaced the engine after the last "off field landing"
dan3111 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The pilot did a good job and walked away which is the best out come for every one every impressed i wish all reports where like that , I have see jab,s a lot worse then that repaired at the factory . On a brighter note It is the first jab i has seen score a goal safe flying every body cheers dan 1 2
deadstick Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 looks like the wing 50 meters behind it wrapped around an old tree 1
Bandit12 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Curiously, the more pictures of Jabs after forced landings, the more I am impressed with their fuselage design. Not sure I would be wanting to fork out the costs of engines that aren't making time regularly, but from the perspective of survivability, it looks like there isn't much better. 5
Geoff13 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I think they would be more survivable if they didnt seem to have the engines die so often. I am not saying this was an engine but with everyone saying how strong they are I. Would just as soon be in a plane that didnt prove that every few weeks or so. 1 1 1
Guernsey Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Better to survive five crashes in a Jab than die once in another aircraft???? . Alan. 5 1 1
fly_tornado Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Don't ATSM standards dictate a crash survivability standard?
bexrbetter Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Better to survive five crashes in a Jab than die once in another aircraft???? .Alan. I would choose 'C'. 1 4
Oscar Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 That was some seriously good decision-making and flying, I reckon - I just measured that entire field on Google Earth and it's a bit over 450 metres at the longest axis with mature trees all around, lots of power lines, and just nowhere else to go. 1 1
