drifterdriver Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 It's been a long time coming but it was worth the wait. For those interested, I'd like to share a video of what I believe is one of the most pleasurable father/son bonding exercises on the planet (well actually slightly above the planet). Cheers Nick 11 2
gandalph Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Well done ! Congratulations on achieving that milestone. Nice flying, nice video. The music? Well.......
drifterdriver Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks for the post. Well maybe we are both getting old. :-) The lad did the editing and music. I would've gone for something like Neil Diamond and Solitary Man if it was my choice. Nick 1
Guest Howard Hughes Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Love the smile at the end, a moment none of us ever forget!
DGL Fox Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Great video..and very well done young fella.. David
DonRamsay Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Yes, that brief smile as the landing is perfect then back on the job - priceless. It's been said a million times but still one of the universal truths, you never forget that first solo. I wonder if it is also true that you never do a better circuit than your first solo? I seriously doubt I've ever done one as good.
drifterdriver Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 You might be right Don. The dual landing was reasonable but the solo one smooth as silk. Maybe not having his old man nagging about his messy room made a difference?
jwn57030 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Awesome Job. Made me wish I was flying right now.
planedriver Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Awesome! We all know what you'll be dreaming about for the next few nights, and what's the bet that your mates start calling you Captain:plane:.
Guest Andys@coffs Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Wow Heck Field sure looks pretty wet at present......A vast difference from just a week or so when I went over the top coming back from Rocky way.....Best it be remembered that we are like cats and generally dislike water but not as much as our props dislike it! Anyway well done on achieving the first of the Solos from Dad...more to come in the next few years...why there's solo living and one that Dad will especially like, solo earning! Or was it the case that the APA epaulettes tell a story of future work/life balance.......Just need a few gold braids and before you know it Eugene will have real competition! Andy
rankamateur Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I wonder if it is also true that you never do a better circuit than your first solo? I seriously doubt I've ever done one as good. Absolute truth, I have done a lot of rougher landings than the first solo one.
Guest foxbat flyer Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 That you everyone for your kimd comments, your right it's something I'll never forget.
