AVOCET Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Yesterday and today fast taxi test getting ready to fly and i noticed rough running on the mag check , Im using iridium plugs and didn't check the gaps , they were about 028 thou , First time I've used iridium plugs NKG , and thought the gap looked excessive , Regapped to 022 tho . all good .
jetjr Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Apparantly they are supposed to be like that ?? gapping them its VERY easy to break electrode Im told I have dropped one before and fixed no probs
AVOCET Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 On the nkg site , they say to gap to manufactures spec . They say the large gap if for performance ignition systems and to add 004 tho per 50hp over standard , Like wise reduced gap to jab specs .
Dafydd Llewellyn Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Anybody have experience with them in a 582?
M61A1 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Anybody have experience with them in a 582? I tried them because an engine I bought came with a spare set, I really didn't notice any improvement. They appeared to perform exactly as standard ones, they seemed to collect buildup at the same rate too.
dazza 38 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I fouled the plug on my Yamaha WR426 , which was quite common with the pumper carb. I switched to a Iridium plug and I never had a problem after that. They are expensive and I have heard stories of the electrode breaking off, but I have never had a problem with them. I never adjusted the gap but as mentioned by Avocet, NGK do recommend gap adjustment.
jetjr Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 On the nkg site , they say to gap to manufactures spec . Who would have thought to read instructions!!! 1
