Marty_d Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 The braces will be staying - it is the area where the motor will be mounted and yes you are right about the wings. It is a one off at this time. I don't think I could cope with building another one certainly not at the moment. Sorry, I was a bit unclear - I mean are you building another frame aft of the existing one to support the wing rear spar - not another aircraft! (Regarding the angled braces I meant the two aft of the existing vertical frame, not the one in front of it... I assume that is the centre of the windshield and it's a conventional front mounted engine?) Tell me to bugger off and mind my own business if you want! :-)
planet47 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 No it is going to be a pusher not a tractor motor. The two aft braces will eventually serve to provide a structure around the motor. The intention is to have foldable wings but have to sort prop clearance obviously dependent on number of blades. 1
Marty_d Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 That explains it... I thought there was a lot of structure in the rear fuselage if it was just the bottom skin of a conventional fuse, but obviously you need it as prop clearance doesn't allow you a lot of room. Sorry for the confusion.
planet47 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 All good - if I survive the building fiasco there will be several more pictures.
Marty_d Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 That looks like a big-ass stab Planet47 - what's the span? (Looks nice by the way!)
planet47 Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 Somewhere around 9' I think - my memory is shot from info overload & my eyes are blinded by the constant flow of silver aluminium as I tirelessly slave away :-) 1
planet47 Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Six months of work - first photo on 6/3/15 and last photo on 7/3/15 and there are lots of photos in between

planet47 Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 My tailplane - plastic to be removed, a bit of trimming and filing and taking out 3/32 holes to 1/8 and deburring and priming and hopefully some riveting. 1
eightyknots Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 The gold plated appearance looks pretty cool. 2
planet47 Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 No just yellow oxide primer & light reelection when I took the photo but maybe a basis for a colour scheme to come:smile:
