Keith W Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Hi everybody, need to replace the air intake hoses that run from the filter up to the carbies, what should I use and what shouldn't i use and where can I buy it thanks Keith.
Guest Maj Millard Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 You need SCAT hose not SCET. The SCET has an inner liner covering the spiral wire...it can get sucked in at full throttle and can block off airflow. SCAT hose can be ordered at you local GA maintenance org.....or you might try B Floods they may have some......Maj....
Keith W Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Thanks Maj I will talk to floods cheers Keith.
Oscar Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Skyshop (Aircraft Spruce agents in Australia) sell SCAT and SCEET (as the aircraft industry with the exception of one L2 knows it), and SCAT is the one to get.
Jaba-who Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 And you need to measure your connections because SCAT hose comes in different diameter sizes. The general terminology is to label it in 1/4 inch diameter increments. On Jabs the NACA duct and hot air mixer box connector sizes is (from memory) 2 1/4 inch diameter ie: 9 x 1/4 inch. Thus the common terminology for that tubing is SCAT 9. 1 3
Dafydd Llewellyn Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 If you are talking about a Gazelle, neither SCAT nor SCEET are permissible. See attached Skyfox induction.doc Skyfox induction.doc Skyfox induction.doc
Thruster87 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 The manufacturer of Aeroduct hoses, Thermoid HRD Industries, does not approve SCEET and SCAT hoses for use in negative pressure applications.
Dafydd Llewellyn Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 If Gympie Aircraft Maintenance are still in business, they should be able to help you.
geoffreywh Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Airquip used to sell it, now a wholesaler in Oakleigh (Melbourne) sells it. I paid $170 for a length of 2 1/4" that was 10ft I believe. I can look up the receipt if you like. I tried NZ hoses but they wanted $ 344 for 10ft......I'd try Skyshop first....
