Kyle Communications Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 CaptainCoop You can fit hard air vents into the top of the plastic caps easily. Just get a bulkhead festo or Legris fitting drill a hole in the cap then fit the fitting and put a piece of shaped bent copper or brass pipe into them. Most Savs around have this method 1

Kyle Communications Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 The festo fittings or the Legris ones have a small sealing washer or you just fit one http://www.fittingsexpress.com.au/product/3101 use the 5mm nut and probably the 4mm input http://www.fittingsexpress.com.au/page/19726202

Kyle Communications Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 no you drill into the top of the cap and pass the fitting through then screw a nut onto the thread at the bottom of the fitting this tightens and locks the fitting into place then bend the right size tube and push it into the top of the fitting
Downunder Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 This is the one I think Kyle meant..... http://www.fittingsexpress.com.au/product/3116 A BULKHEAD fitting. This one maybe better if the elbow doesn't swivel but I have the feeling it would... http://www.fittingsexpress.com.au/product/3139
Kyle Communications Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 You could use the black f to f bulkhead fitting. They are pretty much the same really your tube just plugs into the top and cant be pulled out unless you release the small ring. They also get a grip on the tubing too so the tube out the top shouldn't rotate in the air stream
Kyle Communications Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I like the metal thread ended ones I use them a lot with a stainless 5mm nut to lock them in or just tap a thread when going into aluminium. I made my fuel sight tubes out of these style of fittings. Works like a treat
Captaincoop Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 thanks guys, have just ordered two of the elbow fittings. Hope I can fit them right
dave66 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I cured my fuel spillage on full tanks by simply making the vent pipes longer to allow a higher arch above the wings, locked them off with plastic ties no more watching the miles drip away under the wings.
Captaincoop Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 thx. have installed a breather elbow on each with baffle built in. the positive pressure seems to be making a difference
