Guest pelorus32 Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 The people searching for Steve Fossett have a new pass of satellite pictures. You can help by reviewing individual pictures and flagging those that appear to have something in them. It's boring repetitive work! What the site doesn't say and should in my view is that you also need to be looking for aircraft debris, impact scars and aircraft partially hidden by vegetation, areas of broken branches etc. Many years ago I was part of an aerial search in very rugged country. We found other aircraft and helicopters but not the one we were looking for. But the trick was that on first sight you often didn't see the aircraft but rather a pointer to it. Guest Fred Bear Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Repetitive alright. I can't find anything that resembles an a/c yet. That and my Google Earth will not log into the server this morning. All the traffic probably.
Guest Fred Bear Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 For those with Google Earth that are interested here is the Hilton Private Strip he took off from. http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=992512
Guest Flyer40 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Anyone seen a reference to the weather at the time of his departure?
Guest pelorus32 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 As I understand it the winds were very light and no problems with cloud or vis. The day after it apparently blew quite hard. M
