rhysmcc Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Does anyone have any experience with the Glasair Sportsman? Seems like a very capable aircraft besides the ugly roll cage/bars across the windscreen, but I've only been able to locate a couple of reviews and nothing really local (australian reps/website etc). While I've enjoyed flying the Jabiru, recently flew a C172 and enjoyed the more "stable" feel and larger aircraft (but not so much the price), this guy looks like a good step up from the Jabiru without the 30-40years age of the Cessna. 1
kaz3g Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Worth giving Jim Williams (maintenance engineers) at Albury a call. He has one which is very nicely set up and I thnk it's for sale. Kaz 1
red750 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 See the kit that is intended to make the Sportsman roadable: http://www.airliners.net/photo/PlaneDriven/Glasair-GS-2-Sportsman/2139147/
GlasairS11 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi I have many hours in a mates Sportsman, they are nothing like a 172 they are more like a 182 speed wise have a very nice feel, and with plenty of room to carry your gear. Also great for short field work. There is a dealer in Western Australia who can give you a ride in one. If you interested he advertises in the Aviation trader. You can go to the States and build one in 2 weeks at the factory or there are a number of second hand ones available both in Australia and in the States. Regards. Paul
facthunter Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Bit of time in one. Good thing. General construction method is close to optimum. (in my humble opinion) You need a couple of braces across the windscreen for strength. Nev
