Guest john Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Oh what a tangled English language is & how easy it is to miscontrued . A man takes a lovely lady out to dinner for the first time. Later they go to a show. The evening is a huge success & he drives her to her home & at the door he says: " I had a lovely time tonight, you look so beautiful. & you remind me of a beautiful climbing rose. & therefore may I call you tomorrow?" She agrees & a date is made. The next night he knocks on her door, & when she opens it she slaps him hard across the face?". He is stunned & says: "What is that for?" She said: "I looked up the definition of BEAUTIFUL CLIMBING ROSE on Google last night & it said: "Best suited for rooting against a brick wall or fence, no good in an open bed".
pmccarthy Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 “Once I had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: "No good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt 1
