facthunter Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Not nice Robyn. The joys of owning an aeroplane. Nev
Geoff13 Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Not good, that looks like Pathfinders two Skycatchers to me. Not good at all.
Ultralights Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 even though hangarage is expensive here in Sydney, every time a storm like that passes, i dont regret a single cent of it! 2
facthunter Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Casino and near Western Sydney (Windsor)are the two worst areas for Hail that I know of. That will ruin your day too, even on the ground. Nev 1
eightyknots Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 even though hangarage is expensive here in Sydney, every time a storm like that passes, i dont regret a single cent of it! Hangars aren't always the answer. A storm on the South Island half a year ago destroyed hangars and aeroplanes, most of the "microlights" as they insist calling them over here. Look at picture 14 and 16: http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/your-weather/9956601/Easter-storm-batters-South-Island
Kyle Communications Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I am sure I just saw VH-MWZ upside down at archer field on the CH10 news.....if it is that C172 its the one I did my initial PPL training in back in 1995
DrZoos Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Makes me wonder why i get no insurance discount for being in a hanger 2
dazza 38 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Makes me wonder why i get no insurance discount for being in a hanger Because you need to put your plane in a hangar they don't fit well on a hanger
dunlopdangler Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 yep, MZW almost didn't recognise it with that crappy plain white paint job.. company I work for used to own it before present one. for an old slogger used to fly really well.. Being parked in a hangar was no guarantee neither as some planes were damaged inside them as well ..
Kyle Communications Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I checked my logbook it was MZW that I started my PPL in in june 1995 sorry to see her broken now...was certainly a different colour back then
GAFA Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Good to see Pathfinder Aviation got their replacement C162 operational today. 1 1
kgwilson Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 One of our guys here just came back from Archerfield and told us that apparently over 30 aircraft have been damaged. Some were well tied down & had their tails ripped off. others were tied down in wall-less hangars and got thrashed around hitting the pillars & posts. Some hangars were destroyed. Also there were aircraft completely undamaged only a few metres from others that were trashed.
eightyknots Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 There will be not a few sad aircraft owners out there.
