Yenn Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I have just received this service letter from Jabiru. Funny that they have corresponded with me more in the last month than in the previous 10 years. They are doing something about engine failures and this I suppose is a step in the right direction. Working through the questions my engine falls in 1 with no need to remove a head. that is good for me. One of the questions involved EGT temps, and I wonder just how many Jab built planes are equiped with EGT, also how many pilots are knowledgable enough to understand what the numbers mean. With luck this service letter will work towards safer Jab engines and it will be interesting to see what is found upon inspection. 1 1
jetjr Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 They have used this matrix before to assess risk of problems Yep CASA pushed for this and as expected it produced half baked idas and no fixes yet severely damaged owners and several companies Does everyone feel safer now?
Yenn Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 jetjr. what are those half baked ideas? Who is damaged by it? You've lost me.
jetjr Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The action and this SB may not find anything and cause many heads to be removed. There are no fixes there so how does it help safety. Its also a one off inspection, in some cases just a single head. Load and cost is placed on owners and no improvements in product The proposed action damaged Jabiru, Camit and my aircrafts value. If this is the best to come from this grand push, its the waste of time I expected
