The statistics are a bit out, too. Over 10,000 RAF pilots died in WWII and more than 70,000 total aircrew and ground crew.

537 were kille in the Battle.

The Hawker Hurricane was the workhorse of the battle of Britain. You could get it back into the air much quicker than the Spit which was also much more expensive to produce. Nev

Agreed, but the Hurricane is Tanya Plibersek, and the Spitfire is Megan Gale. Now there's absolutely nothing wrong with Tanya, but if you had to fly one or the other, most of us would rather be in Megan Gale...

Tanya Plibersek is clearly a woman of substance, someone of considerable ability. Ability is important. I'd vote for her. I don't think comparison with Megan Gale is apt in comparing these two aircraft.

Either you're being very tongue-in-cheek or your mind resides well above your waistline. While I agree wholeheartedly that Tanya should be the next PM, I was trying to base the comparison on looks alone. Probably a mistake to choose someone in politics but on the spur of the moment I couldn't think of another "Hurricane". Let's put it another way - the Spitfire oozes sex appeal, the Hurricane, for all its virtues, doesn't.

I don't have any time for somebody who is married to a convicted drug dealer like Plibersek is.

You don't believe in rehabilitation Dazza? He was convicted at the age of 21. He's 49 now, and has clawed his way up to Secretary of the NSW Dept of Family & Community services.

Don't tell me you didn't do stupid stuff at the age of 21 - I know I did. (Never sold drugs, but plenty of stupidity nonetheless).

Well I hope the 5 of them were disciplined for not having their props in synch with Squadron Leader ...!

Clawed his way up or did he get to where he is today because of who he knew ?

I was in the RAAF and working on F111's at the age of 21 so I couldn't afford to do stupid stuff.

I only spent 6 weeks at reseal deseal. But being a airframe fitter all of us from time to time had to carry out repairs inside fuel tanks.

Dazza you must have been looking at it all wrong, most 21 year olds would see the RAAF as an opportunity to do stupid stuff. :whisper:So much lost potential:wink:

Oops I forgot the full stop.

As an afterthought, and I know it is off topic, but how do emojis/emoticons affect grammar? Can they count as a comma or a full stop? I wonder what their place truly is in our written language? We can't just ignore them and say they aren't proper English, but how do we use them correctly?

The way you use emoticons looks fine to me. 012_thumb_up.gif.cb3bc51429685855e5e23c55d661406e.gif

Yeah you would vote for her as you are a Labor supporter. Where as I am a Liberal supporter so I would like Julie Bishop as PM.

Just what we need. Nev

Let's face it, she couldn't do worse than the current retard.

There's only one electable front bencher in the Liberal party, but he's not right-wing enough for the party.

Mainly referring to her being HOT. Hardly what we need at the moment. More international notoriety Nev

Julie Bishop is hot? Hmmmm. Are you allowed to fly with eyesight like that Nev?

Bugger me, I don't think she is. Someone else said that and I responded to it. THAT"S ALL. I don't like the way she behaves diplomatically. Well actually she doesn't behave diplomatically, and we suffer for it. Nev
