derekliston Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Just wondering if anyone has tried Bluescrew for aircraft tiedowns? They sound good but ads very rarely tell you the downside!
DWF Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I have not come across the Blujescrew tiedown. Do you have a link or picture? I use The Claw. Light, easy to use (mostly), usually holds well - depends on the ground you put it into. Downside - it has 3 pegs for each rope. Here is a . DWF
pmccarthy Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I bought some chrome plated helical coil screw tiedowns at Oshkosh in 2014. Haven't found any soil in Australia that they will screw into. 1 2
Kyle Communications Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 send a email to [email protected] I got mine I am sure it was in sport pilot. Cant find the advert now or the website for some reason but they are fantastic. Comes in a pouch with the hammer it has a main post and another connected by small chain that you put another anchor trough. Sort of like 2 tied to each other...works a real treat and super strong Mark
Bruce Robbins Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Camping stores or direct from the designer bluescrew.com.au
rankamateur Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 bluescrews look just the job if you are parking on the beach but I would have serious doubts trying to get them into granite or hard ground, it may well just grind the auger off them.
Russ Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 " screw downs " .......I think was the name, I've got a set, so far so good. ( set of 4, with screwing handle and pouch, $60 approx ) Don't forget the can of cheap surface spray, to douce your ropes and tyres, them angry ants don't mind climbing aboard sometimes. Especially out west. 1
Yenn Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I don't think I would like any sort of screw in holddown for the beach. A sand bag and rope will do just as well. With several sandbags lightly filled and laid along the top of the wing you will destroy the lifting ability of the wing. It may be your only chance in a cyclone.
