Please be aware that jumps are now occurring at a second location along the coastal route between Moorabbin and Albert Park Lake.

This is happening at Elwood Park very close to the Brighton VFR reporting point so very importNt to listen carefully to Melb Radar on 135.7 plus all the other bloody frequencies that apply during this transit.

They ran into a bit of trouble this afternoon when a heap of them dropped straight into a front moving through with hail and rain

Makes you wonder about a VFR drop in those conditions, doesn't it?

I had a similar front come in under a load once at Jaspers Brush.....jumpers on cheepos spread from the DZ to the ocean.

Surely someone on the ground could have advised them of conditions yesterday ?....bit hard to see high winds prior to exit from altitude with GPS spotting.....some value in still hanging a head out the door I suppose. Good nobody injured.

Even with GPS spotting a visual must be done prior to exit to ensure clear airspace under aircraft. Look before you leap basically. Ground crew should be in contact with aircraft via radio. Tandem master would have come out unscathed as they hid behind the poor pax. Should be interesting to see the outcome as the DZSO and Area Safety Officer both work for the operator.
