I was encouraged to buy a Foxbat after seeing so many satisfied Australians using them as work horses and for pleasure. Mine is G-EOID and a quick Google will show you how pretty my Foxy is in its flip colour scheme. I'll pop onto this forum now and then to see how you do it on the other side of the World. I wonder where you are based with your Foxy ?? by Australian standards, we live on a rather small piece of land, ie, half the size of the state of Victoria,. . . .and some bright geographer once told me that the entire British isles would fit into the land mass of OZ areound thirty two times,. . . but I'll bet some of the locals would be rather pissed off if we did that. . .but that's another story. . . . . I'm based at Otherton International, around six NM South of the county town of Stafford, just alongside the M6 3 lane carpark,. . . (! ) between J12 and J13. . . . . The Foxbat was originally imported into our site, but moved away onto the Welsh Border a few years back. I've recently spoken to Peter, the OZ importer of Foxies, and they are quite popular downunder,. . . . . hope to see some more posts anyway. You can't possibly be too far away, so why not pop in and have a bag of crisps, a twix and a cuppa on the next available weather wweekend ? ? ? ? ? gimme a shout on 129.825 ( Otherton Micro Base ) when you're 50 miles out, and I'll get that lazy bugger Bill to mow the runway for you. . . . . . I fly out of a small field with just 220 metres so the Foxbat is the ideal machine for me. It's all a bit wet at the moment and I have just bought a portable pressure washer to keep Foxy's bits clean after my splashdowns. Take a look at my Youtube channel, superrealitykid to see some of the stuff I get up to (all aviation). Yes I am in touch with Ray Everitt of Dragon Aviation who is the Foxbat Importer now. I might well hold you to the Twix and packet of crisps but you'll have to arrange some better weather first, ideally a Southerly on my way up and Northerly return - please. I'll Google Otherton and make a note of your frequency. Failing that, I usually go to the Popham Microlight Fair in April so if you're there, I may see you. What do you fly? Cheers, James. Hi again James,. . . . I've flown nearly all the Cessna and Piper singles with some twins thrown in ( some of these whilst based in OZ ). . . I prefer older type aircraft like Austers, Chipmunks, Cubs, Jodels etc. . . . . and anything else that I can blagg . . . . I have not been to Popham for a couple of years. . . too crowded and chaotic for me,. . .I like relaxation too much ! Very good for "Near Miss" practice though. . . If you check out othertonairfield .co.uk there are some approach plates in pdf which I made up during a non-flyable weekend a few years ago. . . . they show the "NO FLY" areas to keep our neighbours happy !!! I notice that the Pooleys airfield guide have "Nicked" my artwork for their Otherton directory entry, but I probably won't sue them !! We've got six runways, the shortest is 220 metres which shouldn't give you any probs since we cut down all the trees ! Look forward to seeing you dangle the dunlops in the summer months, we're found on 129.825 National Micro air/ground, callsign "Otherton Micro Base". The twixes and coffee / tea are on me, that is unless we can find another nice lady with a hot food van, ours just retired. Watched the vids too,. . . . looks like good fun. Forest James Posted January 18, 2015 Author Share Posted January 18, 2015 "Go" Forest, "go" ! More a case of "stop" Forest "stop" when I choose downwind landings. The hedge is low and the field runs a bit uphill from the South Western end and there are 30' high trees at the other end so if the wind isn't too strong I prefer to come low over the hedge with the wind up my Jacksy. A bit unfriendly if I have to go around, the trees at the other end jump at you but that thought applies a bit of pressure to nail the numbers on final. Just as well Foxy claws the sky like a homesick angel. Thanks for your comments, James. Jeeze Forest, ya weren't kidding about the short strip!
