pmccarthy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Just ban lawyers and ex unionists and 90%of the problem goes away. 1 3
Marty_d Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Can we ban the owners of mining companies too? Apparently the PUP received $27 million in donations from... Palmer owned companies.
dazza 38 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Queenslanders saw through the Palmer Unity Party, they didn't win a single seat. 1
fly_tornado Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Its bigger than Palmer Daz, KAP lost 90% of their vote, they went from 10% of the primary vote to less than 2% lost Ray Hopper the party leader. But think about like this, the ALP picked up their vote in SA and managed to stay in power, the Vic lib gov was turfed after 1 term and now the ALP in QLD has bounced back. The country has stopped believing in the LNP. The PM gave a big speech yesterday, never once mentioned his mandate, talked about party unity and getting behind the leader. This morning the Country liberals dumped their leader. Personally, Jbish is the only chance the libs have of not getting wiped at the next election and she will lose.
Marty_d Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 But now Ian McFarlane is calling on Julie and Malcolm to make public assurances that they will not challenge. Shades of KRudd methinks...
fly_tornado Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Tony is a dead man walking, he's lost the country and now his party. NSW state election is going to be a lot closer than it should be.
dazza 38 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Im thinking that after the last federal election, people are now wary of voting for small or micro parties. 1
fly_tornado Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 the Victorian upper house is now more fragmented than its ever been. most of the micro parties are right wing conservative parties.
Old Koreelah Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Im thinking that after the last federal election, people are now wary of voting for small or micro parties. Making a protest by giving your vote to some of the new groups is risky: you don't know how long they will stay with their party, their policy direction is vague and worst of all, you're stuck with a senator for not three years but six! 2
Yenn Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 It looks as if Pauline Hanson may win the seat she is contesting. Tony Abbot got her jailed by his lying and scheming, what a turn up for the books if she is in and he is out. As far as politics goes, to see what they are really like look at Pauline Hansons maiden speech in parliament and compare it to the lies Howard and his cronie spread about her. LNP in Qld was outed because they wouldn't take notice of the voters opinion. It was clear, selling assets wasn't going to work. The Criminal Bikie legislation was ridiculous. Even Queenslanders like to believe in innocent until proven guilty. $18.6 million for Ashgrove if the LNP won. The Ashgrove voters saw that as pork barreling and voted for Kate. As for Tony Abbot, his knighting of Prince Philip was a sign that he thinks he is running the country. Never a thought about democracy. But what could we expect from the offsider to Australia's worst ever PM. John Howard. The man who stuffed up a prime chance to stop the boats, when he allowed those who took over a cargo ship to come here instead of charging them with piracy.
facthunter Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yes the Senate preferences situation has been corrupted. Few honest people would disagree with that. and they are in a LONG time. The treatment of Pauline Hanson by the Libs, who then stole many of her policies, was shameful. She went to gaol but was eventually exonerated. Abbott set up the FUND to have her put there, and there is still a question over the legality of that fund....Nev 2
Marty_d Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 It was shameful the way she was treated, it shouldn't have happened. Having said that she is our equivalent of Sarah Palin and it would be a sad day for the country if she ever attained high office.
facthunter Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Not sure I agree with the comparison, totally but I see where you are coming from. Palin I have studied somewhat. There is a fair bit out there if you look. If Pauline's views were universal It would be scary, but I support her right to express them The system should not just rub her out as it did. Nev

facthunter Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yes, but it looks as if she's in doesn't it, ? and it's not the senate (as there isn't any in Qld) It was stated by some expert that If QLD had a Senate, Newman would still be there . (as he wouldn't have been so extreme) Nev

And given it's most likely going to be a hung parliament she'll have even more influence.
fly_tornado Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 the LNP at the moment seems to be a party tearing itself apart. http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-03/nt-chief-minister-giles-refuses-to-quit-after-leadership-coup/6065200

Abbott is gone, that's almost a certainty, he's a rat turd in their custard right now. But if they have Turnbull/Bishop as leader, remove Hockey from Treasury and think up some new policies, they could still unsink the ship. 1
fly_tornado Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I can't see the polls coming back after being such a bad government, it really depends how long tony can hold on for. The longer he holds on the less likely the punters are too see any change. That $550 I got back from the carbon tax still seems pretty elusive. 1
facthunter Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Depends whether Rupee wants him and Credlin. I doubt he will dump Credlin. The "show" looks like imploding eventually. They HATE Turdy. Nev
pmccarthy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 My brother voted in Qld but there were no how to vote cards for anyone except Labor and Libs. He randomly voted for the rest but didnt know who they were or which party. If he'd known there were no other how to vote cards he would have paid more attention and taken along a crib sheet.

It depends on which seat your brother is in. My seat Mermaid had how to vote cards for Labor, LNP, Family First, PUP and the Greens. I dcided to number my paper on my own personal preference .

Turnbull WAS the leader and he was booted out by his colleagues because of his ego. That's not likely to go away.
