shags_j Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Noticed it on the news this morning. A bit stunned noone has commented here yet. Anyone have any details? Apparently noone was injured. That's all I heard https://au.news.yahoo.com/video/watch/26329121/brisbane-plane-crash/ 1
horsefeathers Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 It's a Cessna 172, according to the 7 news aircraft "expert" .
Camel Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 It's a Cessna 172, according to the 7 news aircraft "expert" . Media know more about nothing than most ! It is not a 172 and if I'm not mistaken it is a RAA reg C 162 skywatcher. 1
king_daniels Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Quote a bit stunned noone has commented here yet If it was a Jabiru that crashed you would have at least a thousand comments by now. Daniel 2 7
Bennyboy320 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Every high wing a/c is a Cessna isn't it, he failed to use the modern day reporters main research tool, "google"
biggles Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Media know more about nothing than most ! It is not a 172 and if I'm not mistaken it is a RAA reg C 162 skywatcher. Mmm, " Skycatcher "
fly_tornado Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 pathfinder must have run out of jabs to crash? 3 3 2
rhysmcc Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Hope all is okay and the school can get back on it's feet, they seem to have had issues with a few aircraft after the freak storms a few months ago turned the fleet upside down.
shags_j Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Pathfinder seem to have had a rough time. Jab engine failure a year ago or so. Lost a head of acft in the doyen now This. They are great guys there and I hope this doesn't cause to many issues for them
dazza 38 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Mmm, " Skycatcher " Also known as a bug smasher and fly catcher.
Guernsey Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Mmm, " Skycatcher " Looks more like a 'Fencecatcher' to me. . Alan. 4
timb Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Well the press was half right - it was a Cessna...
Camel Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Mmm, " Skycatcher " My iPad auto correct did it. Could end up as a skywatcher! 1
davebutler Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 timb have to agree, give them a bit of credit they got the Cessna part right but then Cessna seems to be there default aircraft so they had to get it right sooner or later. Also Pathfinder are having a real run of bad luck, hope the stick to the Sling it seems to be hanging in there.
red750 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Slight drift, but Channel 7 news tonight showed "dashcam" style video of a near miss over Moorabbin in 2012, where an aircraft on final for 35 right had another aircraft cut across his approach from the right, and looking like it was heading for 35 left. It was like being cut off by a lane changer on the freeway. Looked like they came within 50 metres of one another. The newsreader said it is understood the student (not sure which aircraft) may not have heard an ATC instruction. I did an internet search, and the video and detailed story are on the link below. I clicked on the video but it only gave a message saying it was a private video, even though it had a string of 'share' buttons below it. dazza 38 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I flew home from Miles to Brisbane today in a -8. It has been gusty all day. I wouldn't have flown a LSA up here today.
shags_j Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 It's been not so bad here today. I'd say no more than 10 knots most of the day
howe Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Archerfield today, 8.30 am 11-15 knots SE 9.30 am 15-21 knots 10.30 am 16- 27 knots not a good day for instruction. 1
