turboplanner Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 G'day Tink. I was down there Thursday for the day. When did you go? Regards Geoff Went down yesterday, Friday. Lara turnoff access was great, no traffic congestion, plenty of food, toilets, no traffic congestion on the way out, AAA rating for the show now. Spent most of my time with the RAAF being told not to touch anything. Some more photos attached. 5 5

Neil_S Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Who's going tomorrow (Sunday)? Hi, I will be going on Sunday. Make sure you go to the GA/Airsport section and check out the 3/4 scale Spitfire built by my mate Chris..... Cheers, Neil
Russ Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Join the queue to get up close to the outstanding gyro display, ( most flew in ) I'm hearing it's really attracting folks, it's been a long slog over many yrs, to get to this generation, one maker now night IFR certified Europe. Well done to ASRA getting this organised for this event. Russ 1
turboplanner Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 The little turbine helicopter's a piece of work too.
Jay_1984 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Did anyone take any footage of the WW1 display? Headed down today (sunday), but after the rain over night, the WW1 section was canned due to ground conditions :( Was nice to see these up close on the ground, but would have been great to see them in the air.
Guest ozzie Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I'd like to try and fly one or two of them. More my type of aircraft.
Rotorwork Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Went on Friday & Saturday, Very enjoyable, walked many miles, lots to see The Airshow volunteers did a great job. +1 for the many Gyros & the turbine mosquito helicopter. I would like to see the next Avalon Airshow a Smoke free event ( humans that is, not the aircraft) Every time you stopped to look at something, some A**hole would lite one up. Regards R W 1 2
bexrbetter Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 One of the best finished aircraft in the show Beautiful Cessna there - Thanks for the pictures, much appreciated, but not everyone knows their planes. Quite annoyed I couldn't get there, had everything arranged but ......there's always a "but" lately, sigh.

Hi Jay, I was also disappointed the WW1 planes did not fly again on the Sunday - I saw them on the Saturday. I have some brief footage of some taxiing, and the triplanes taking off from the Saturday, but did not shoot the aerial display as I only had my stills camera with me, and video mode is not the best.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/nsidwell/16686516042/in/set-72157650664465429 https://www.flickr.com/photos/nsidwell/16067738023/in/set-72157650664465429 I love the sound of the Camel's rotary engine.. Cheers, Neil

red750 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I went Sunday, and uploaded 91 photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/49587346@N02/sets/72157651111816881/ Unfortunately we had a storm and blackout on Saturday night while I was recharging my spare camera battery or I would have had more. You really need more than one day to see it all. 2
Jay_1984 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Thought I'd share a little something from the show on sunday... Leading up to the show, I'd heard that the F22's from the US were only going to be a static display due to "operational requirements". On the sunday found out what the operational requirements were. Apparently there is only 1 F22 pilot signed off to perform airshow demonstrations and he was taking a week off on holidays . To quote the personnel who was telling us this, "The pilots who flew them in are ok to fly into and conduct combat missions...but not airshows, makes you think doesn't it?" I thought that was funny...
fly_tornado Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I went to the US in 2011 and the F22 was grounded due to the oxygen system killing pilots... thank god we didn't buy them!
