Birdseye Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Well worth a read. Something for CASA to think about? http://www.flyingmag.com/blogs/going-direct/three-big-changes-pilot-medical-and-what-they-mean-you 1
ben87r Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Haven't read the link but had a giggle at the idea of casa thinking! Oh what a wonderful world it would be
Birdseye Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Haven't read the link but had a giggle at the idea of casa thinking! Oh what a wonderful world it would be I urge all to read the link. It will take something as drastic as this to remove the burden that the curry munching GP and other CASA clowns have put in place over the last few years.
Guest Howard Hughes Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Let me tell you the FAA medical branch is considerably more difficult to deal with than CASA. I am presently trying to obtain an FAA class 1 medical and have been hit with a list of requirements (due to previous medical history) which have been described as 'Draconian' by my specialist. One of these requirements has now seen me have three weeks off work due to complications from the procedure, a procedure which in the opinion of my specialist was not required. This process has now taken 12 months with still no result, despite me having held an unrestricted Australian class one medical for some 15 years. Lets not even get started with the FAA's poor use of electronic media. All of my results that I am compiling must be in hard copy form and sent registered post to the FAA. I'm fairly sure their internet presence hasn't changed since the internet started. Give me the CASA medical branch any day!
old man emu Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Heaven forbid! Don't let CASA hear of these changes in the USA! We can't have people navigating our skies under the threat of sudden incapacitation through minor changes in organ function arising from aging. STOP THEM FLYING IMMEDIATELY!! If they want to go places, let them drive cars like all the other medically and mentally imperfect specimens. OME
Birdseye Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Let me tell you the FAA medical branch is considerably more difficult to deal with than CASA. I've no doubt it is, which is presumably why the change is going down the political path. I've read a few of the horror stories that you describe.
facthunter Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 You can't compare directly. The CASA have had some low points and times when we lead the world. (Late 80's) Nev
Birdseye Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 As I recall CASA didn't exist in the late 80's. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) was established on 6 July 1995 as an independent statutory authority. Under section 8 of the, Civil Aviation Act 1988, CASA is a body corporate separate from the Commonwealth.
