Am i correct saying none of the US ADSB will work here......ever?

jetjr - correct, their system uses 978 mHz which we will never use here. Just need to be mindful of ANY gadgets made overseas.

Not so sure that is correct.. the SW model 2 version states in the webpage,,,,978/1090 MHz ADS-B receiver for free in-flight weather ( but not in AU!) and traffic. I agree 978 is pretty well useless but 1090 is on the money I think!

Check this page http://nebula.wsimg.com/0460ef331215496f079b37b969b76eff?AccessKeyId=25B2510C35AB96A7E02E&disposition=0&alloworigin=1 and note that the 978MHZ only models are no longer available....

Now that focuses only on frequency and not on the extended squitter makeup....I'm assuming (and we know that's dangerous) that USA and Australia 1090 stuff is the same, otherwise there would be carrier issues for planes flying under USA rego......

I seem to recall that their RPT based stuff is the same as ours (vice versa really!) and they had a VHF solution for low end stuff like we fly...so not sure what 978MHZ is cause it sure isn't in the VHF spectrum......
