Guest ozzie Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I sold my Lazair last year after a second round of audit woes from the RAAus, just had enough of it all. First year was the photos of placards BS. Then last year they wanted a re weigh and the data sheet to say it was really a 747 in ultralights clothing or something like that. Any way had enough of the stupid game and sold it. New owner registers it OK with no problems. Now a year later new owner contacts me and says the RAAus has done yet another 'recent audit' and can't find the "Pre Flight Inspection Form" and please submit. Just what is going on down in Canberra? Just how many "audits" do they have to do to work out just what they have and don't have for a 37 year old ultralight? Boy aren't the RAAus glad i sold 10-4484 and i am no longer a member. If i was still the owner and a member i'd be camping outside the RAAus office tonight. HULLO, does anyone in the office in Canberra actually know what is happening or how to run the show? Can anyone tell me why every time someone does an audit they find something missing that was most definitely sent when the aircraft's paper work was first submitted? Like 3 times now and still not right. Now someone tell me that the RAAus office should remain in Canberra out of reach of the majority of members. Any one else still having audit woes?
Yenn Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 They chased me for the punch list for my final inspection when I built the Corby. What use that would be to them is beyond me as it is only a list of things to look at and they could be ticked off. Eventually they found what they wanted there in the office, but if they could only get their act together and be one step ahead of CASA life would be simpler. Anyone want to buy a Corby Starlet and I would then only have to worry about the RV4.
fly_tornado Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 It's about keeping busy when the boss walks past.
rankamateur Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 My renewal arrived in todays mail. All I got for it last year was 11 magazines, don't expect to get anything for it this year(can't see any reason to renew it either). Maybe in a couple of years when I am ready to register my plane!
Guest Andys@coffs Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 The paper based system that got us into so much grief in the past is still the same paper system used today. The faults of the system are understood and mitigated as much as can be until the replacement electronic system comes online shortly. Only when the system is replaced will the fundamental issue of missing paper be addressed. Its nothing about "keeping busy....." and all about the fact that CASA audits are never finished, there is no end date, rather they come and look and if our guys don't find the complete set of artifacts on renewal then anyone who has been in a job where audit is part and parcel will know that the auditors, who have a random choice of, in our case 3000 plus active aircraft files will magically pick the one you know is substandard..... In the past when it was ignored CASA started to progressively get sh!tty and started grounding us until our systems became self correcting.......Personally I'm much happier that the missing paper is identified and corrective processes initiated than a repeat of the repeated failed audits leading to grounding occurring again. I can understand peoples frustration but its not like the past where there was no plan...we have a plan, its underway, the CEO has discussed it in he magazines and it will deliver and those who remain will be pleased to have it I believe. We, as members. have put up with this mess for 10 years...another 12-18 months is all the board and management are asking for to have solved the aircraft files issue (in terms of process and infrastructure). Guest ozzie Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Andy 3 TIMES MATE: REPEAT: THREE BLOODY TIMES IN THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS. I am positive that the RAAus do not know what is required for the data package. AS USELESS AS TITS ON A BULL.
