They want more $$. Well don't we all? But not everyone acts like this unless in Kindy. From Canberra times:

"Public servants at the Bureau of Meteorology are planning to bring MPs and Senators down to earth by denying weather forecasts to Canberra Airport at times when the politicians are descending on the national capital.

The weather men and women will vote on the move, aimed at bringing their pay dispute to the corridors of power, in the coming weeks.

Union members at the Bureau are also planning to use their unique position to take their grievances to the nation’s airwaves, reading out messages before they broadcast weather forecasts on local, regional and metropolitan radio stations.

The BoM technicians believe they can withhold the weather information from airlines and air traffic control without putting safety or commerce at risk but say they cannot rule out inconvenience for the parliamentarians."

Here is an honest account of the story...

"The action, led by members of the technical union Professionals Australia, has called on the Bureau of Meteorology forecasters to deny weather information to commercial flights carrying politicians to and from Canberra airport, provided safety is not compromised."

The best &most permanent successful procedure would be to sack all of the BOM bastaxds similar to what Hawke & the Airlines did some years ago when the Airline pilots thought they were indespensable & some of them then had to start working as cleaners & shxt kickers just to put food on the table & pay the mortgage.

The best & most accurate weather forcasting I have experienced over the many years I have been involved in aviation & it has never failed me yet, is when you get up in the morning for a pxss go outside & have a look at Gods Great sky above & then ring someone you know where your flying to & request them to do the same, & if the weather is ratshxit in both locations go back to bed & dream.054_no_no_no.gif.950345b863e0f6a5a1b13784a465a8c4.gif

the last few years the BOM forecasting has been abysmal, obviously from their massive funding cuts a few years ago.

i find just reading the synoptic charts are good enough, more accurate than some of the crap the BOM publish sometimes

Yeah John, that would work... Perhaps we should gather more facts before doing anything rash. There are still a few dedicated, highly qualified and experienced people employed by the government. They are the ones who have kept this country ticking over while so many of their colleagues were laid off in Public Service cut-backs or moved to better paying jobs.

Maybe we should properly reward good people for their dedication. This country has many overpaid chisellers, parasites and con-men dressed in suits who are more deserving of a spot in front of the firing squads
