Gnarly Gnu Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 "Forget P90X. B-52H is the full-body workout you need. Flying the legendary 250,000-pound Stratofortress is like wrangling an angry bull, as this video show. However, a feature kept secret for years made the job of landing them just a little easier." OK, not so secret but still interesting. Somehow these things don't come across as being so fuel efficient.
ayavner Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 now i know what it must be like driving behind me in my diesel land rover (cough cough)
Admin Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 See how they are throwing those column sticks around...compare that to the precision we have in recreational aircraft 1
ben87r Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 There is one of these in the aviation museum in Darwin, I was quite surprised to see how simple the cockpit was, apart from a lot of engine instruments was rather simple. Any one know why it appears like there is 2 pilots flying and no pilot monitoring?
facthunter Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 You need a fair bit of control movement to get the plane to move and the same to stop it moving. The controls are hydraulic and have no real feel but the rate of roll is quite slow so you have to be pretty positive about control inputs to get the plane to go where you want it. In rough air more so. If you were real smooth and delicate with it it would probably just wave wings at everybody, slowly. The U/C set up must be a real bind. and there's little allowance for engine clearance in roll. They are a pretty awful aeroplane just built to do a job. If you are in Darwin have a look at the one there. Nev
