Valdiviano Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Michael Smith has now arrived in Abu Dhabi, flying from Melbourne to London in a Searey ampihibious kit plane. If you are NOT following his blog full of comments and photos, you are missing out on a great adventure. ONCE IN A LIFETIME http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/southernsun/1/tpod.html 2

DGL Fox Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 I would love to do that one day...so exciting.. David
coljones Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Now, if he had just gone via Geralton he could have picked up CAGIT on the way. London would be an interesting place to bring it back from. You are doing well Michael. Enjoy, skål!!!
Valdiviano Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Michael has now arrived in Israel. His second last leg was 10.5 hours of which 7 where night flying over Saudi Arabia. I believe that it is NOW much harder to accomplish this kind of flying than in the old days when Britain controlled most of the countries in Michaels route. 1

Valdiviano Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Don't know. Next stop as per his log is Marseille sometime this week, after that it would only be a one or two day hop, I would guess
kasper Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Love the trip blog and would love to do it myself but it does highlight one thing I have always wondered about - waterborne aircraft are generally less efficient than a land only aircraft due to weight and shape requirements - here is an amphib flying half way around the world and how many water landings has it taken?
facthunter Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 From Marseille to Angleterre is a pretty good effort in 2 days. Nev
rgmwa Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Who's flying the searey home? It's an amphibian. He can drive it home. rgmwa
Valdiviano Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 LANDED SOUTHAMPTON, England at 1256 GMT. Congratulations Michael 1 4
eightyknots Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 This has been a fantastic journey. As Michael said in his blog "Mission Accomplished". If Michael reads this, from all Forumites: WELL DONE! 1
