old man emu Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Not really wanting to tout for business for anyone, but I had to bring these to your attention. I saw them being used on "Wheeler Dealers" on the Discovery Turbo channel and I thought they were pretty whizzo. http://www.savemoreonline.com.au/automotive-and-garage/auto-parts/battery-connector-with-quick-connect-disconnect/ OME 1
Montymagic Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 They look a great way to attach the leads. I wonder how they stand up to long term exposure to corrosive battery chemicals ?
old man emu Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 I'd say that they'd be as good as any other. Just need to keep them washed. and greased. OME
facthunter Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 A lot of terminals are with small bolts these days especially with motorcycle type batteries. You could use a slightly longer bolt with nut and use an extra wingnut. and remove a lead completely. I like the simplest solution if there's a choice. Peugeot 203's had a disconnecting terminal standard fitting. Leaving your plane powered up is risky. No work should be done around the engine with power on either. I got burned with a metal watchband fitting a battery to a Cessna in a confined space long ago Nev
Kyle Communications Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I have a set of those I got for my 4wd up at the farm. I leave the battery disconnected until we get there...I havent fitted these ones I got from Ian yet but they look like they will do the job fine
fly_tornado Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Dusts off granddad's hat... Better play it safe and safety wire them shut
