Like I said Teckair Without doubt they are correct. If they stand there and shout at it long enough, they will see it fall. What is incorrect about my comment?

Sounds quite like how things are run in this country.

Step 1. Think we have a problem, real or perceived.

 

Step 2. Have a committee come up with a pointless irrelevant solution.

 

Step 3. Apply solution at great cost, both monetarily and human freedoms

 

Step 4. When a change occurs, regardless of cause, claim triumph, and make more similar solutions to perceived problems.

 

Step 5. Tell everyone about the great work you've done to save their lives.

You reckon you have access to real data about such events........really, how often is the guy changing lanes (legally but annoying), the actual root cause of the fatality?

How would you be changing lanes while flying, or isn't a major crash since last weekend worth considering.

No, one of the dangers of a forum discussion where posts are expected to be just a few words, is someone will be addressing what someone else said, which might be 3% of the big picture, and someone else will take that post as applying to the whole 100% of the subject.

Frank. Possibly some of them would. Students tend to hang on every word of the source of their information in the early stages. Some of that can be erroneous even if it is only in the interpretation or emphasis. It would be unfair to hang the blame on an instructor 30 or so years later. Once you have your "permit to fly" it is YOUR responsibility to advance your knowledge and revisit a few of the things you may take for granted over time. Make every check count. This is where a "with it" instructor can add a lot ( with the right pilot). If the attitude of the pilot is "Let's get this over with so I can fly for the next 2 years without paying any money out like this" , there isn't likely to be much advancement. Nev
