bexrbetter Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Very nice but relatively speaking, I didn't think it was that great actually. 1 1
johnm Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 there should have been some grandstand seating inside the hangar - there'd be plenty that would pay ........ just sign a simple disclaimer and off you go
kaz3g Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I wonder how long it will be before somebody with far fewer skills dies trying to copy or even outdo these guys? Kaz 1
Deskpilot Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Done it loads of times......................in my flight sim. Now let's see them do it through your average barn. 1
bexrbetter Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I wonder how long it will be before somebody with far fewer skills dies trying to copy or even outdo these guys?Kaz I'm not going to search but others will find old black and white movies of barnstorming - and crashes.
facthunter Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Those crashes were deliberate. Stunt flyers earning money. Plenty of surplus planes around at the time. Nev
cooperplace Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I won't try that at YMBD, particularly with there being only doors at one end of the hangar! 1

Nev That comment goes to show how Red Bullsh!t can influence gullible people. There are hundreds, maybe thousand of gravestones of people who thought they could but didn't, and it was the biggest impediment in the fight to establish airline travel. 1
facthunter Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 It was done for filming Turbs. People didn't get killed as it was all arranged. The first paying regular services were postal deliveries. Single engined planes in all weathers with a terrible death rate and no one watching, (or caring much).Nev

A few of the ground markers (set up to help them navigate) still survive. 2
red750 Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Here is one of the giant navigating arrows spread across America. 1 1
bexrbetter Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Wow, thanks OK and Red, just learnt sumtin new. http://www.messynessychic.com/2013/11/15/the-forgotten-giant-arrows-that-guide-you-across-america/
Guernsey Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I've got arrows like that down my hallway heading for the toilet. Alan.

pmccarthy Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 That's a surprising list. If you added documentary and news filming it would be several times larger. 1
facthunter Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Include projects like the Snowy Mountains scheme and the Brookland bridge and the soccer stadium in Qatar (a current project) Coal mines in China. private gold mining in South Africa. and Pearl diving.
