alf jessup Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Condolences to the family & friends of this pilot. Looks like a Sonex from a Ch 9 report and not a lot a damage going by the looks of it.

ave8rr Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Condolences to the family. Aircraft involved is currently listed for sale on the Members Market.
Guest asmol Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 With so little visible damage to the plane you would have to think at 85 it was a medical issue?
Happyflyer Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Other forum saying man in his 70s and possible heaart problems.
billwoodmason Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I believe this aircraft changed hands recently - condolences to all concerned.
acro Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 i was going to buy this plane but the bloke said he couldnt get it started and was waiting on an electrician to look at it, maybe it had some type of a failure there. but looking at the damage i doubt that killed him.
Guest pookemon Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 The article on the abc now says it crashed on take off after multiple attempts. It veered off the runway and crashed (which looks like the nose wheel collapsed, there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of damage). Looking at the wind sock it might have been some crosswind attempts and one of them went wrong. Though it may just be that the sealed runway was his preferred (is the grass one open atm?).
Keenaviator Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Doesn't appear to be badly damaged. Nose gear squashed and mains a little flattened. 1
