Ira Heilveil Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Owners of airplanes typically have mixed feelings over Big Brother’s requirement that we subject our airplanes to annual inspections. The negative side of the equation is obvious: inspections cost a lot of “aviation units,” a term invented by pilots who prefer not to disclose exact dollar amounts to their spouses. On the other hand, the benefits are equally as obvious. The fact that the airplanes flying above us are thoroughly inspected by licensed mechanics at least once a year undoubtedly makes those flying inside them and those on the ground below them a lot safer..... http://cftblog.com/the-annual/
Yenn Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I have flown aircraft just out of annual inspections and found faults on my walk around. It is good for the plane to be inspected, but not necessarily safe. One of the most dangerous times is immediately after an annual or any maintenance. It is not necessarily safer to have inspections and maintenance done by a LAME. There are a lot of expert maintainers of their own aeroplanes with no CASA approved qualifications. 2
Guernsey Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I inspect my wife every day just to make sure that she is up to her annual performance on my birthday. Alan.
