Guest ericthered1975 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 One of the main and most important Allied bombers, the B-17 was sparked interest and greed target of Germans and Japanese during WW2. Inevitably some planes were captured and tested by the enemy. I share with you the link below that has some photos of these planes, some rare, with German and Japanese markings. old man emu Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 There only seem to be two aircraft shown, one each for the Germans and Japanese. The German photos seem to show the airplane in German hands and later in US hands after its recapture. One would think that with all the B-17s that went down, the Germans could have cobbled a few together, but I suppose that when you have your back to the wall, you don't have the luxury of engaging in airplane restorations. I recall a photo of Adolf Galland demonstrating attack approaches to other pilots by using a model of a B-17. OME
Gnarly Gnu Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Speaking of the B-17 and ww2 here is an interesting, if sad, story: "A town historian in rural New York was led upon a journey after the discovery of decades-old home movies stuffed in a box and hidden away in an old attic." (clip won't play in AU)
