Worked on a Ranger engined one at Personal Plane Services at Booker many years ago. Never flew it nor flew in it, but did get to taxi it and do an engine run. No idea on the current one yet!

red750 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Correct. M1c. A slight deviation from the thread. The Sokol (Eng: Falcon) was made by Benez Marx in Czechoslovakia after WWII. Another Czechoslovakian aircraft, the L-40 Meta Sokol, was somewhat similar but the vertical stabiliser had straight edges instead of curved. It was a 4 place retractable. It had two unusual features. It had an inverted tricycle undercarriage, in that the main gear was in line with the wing leading edge, and the third wheel was in line with the trailing edge. When retracted, part of the main gear protruded from the well so that in the event of a wheels up landing, the belly of the plane did not touch the ground. See photos below.

It had a supercharger you could select on/off manually.

While they are quite similar, the window shapes and sizes are slightly different, but the main difference is the horizontal stabiliser on the one above has it's leading edge ahead of the fin, whereas the F-15A has it's leading edge well behind the fin. I featured the F.15A about 55 planes ago.
