dsam Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Anyone with an informative opinion on this reported incident? http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/aviation/near-miss-for-planes-carrying-18-people/story-e6frg95x-1227530833949
Geoff13 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Took me to a link for a digital subscription to a newspaper. No thank you.

dsam Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 Took me to a link for a digital subscription to a newspaper. No thank you. Sorry, should have checked the link before posting. Now I can't find a direct link myself. It was a story about an 18 passenger charter to Mt. Hotham where there was loss of separation to 1 nautical mile with another aircraft. Dick Smith also added his 2 cents worth. I was just wondering if there was much to be learned from this incident, or if it was a media beat-up.
dsam Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 Read the link I just posted. Thanks for this ATSB link. Sounds much less dramatic than the media coverage. No mention of the other aircraft or other proximity issues...
Aldo Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Dick Smith also added his 2 cents worth. Probably wants controlled airspace right to the deck
Robbo Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 No other aircraft, just an unstable approach. Dunno where they (the media) got the near miss from.
red750 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/close-call-for-18-passengers-on-plane-bound-for-mt-hotham/story-fni0fit3-1227531460939 http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/aviation/near-miss-for-planes-carrying-18-people/story-e6frg95x-1227530833949
Robbo Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Strange. The ATSB report says nothing like that. From Herald Sun An incident report, titled “Breakdown of Separation”, stated passengers on the plane were so shaken by the incident they refused to return to Melbourne with the same pilot later that day. ATSB Report is not titled that, it's titled "Unstable Approach"
