IBob Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hi, I'm Bob, finally made it into the air unaided and now awaiting the arrival of my very own Savannah-in-a-box experience. 3
Kyle Communications Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hi Bob I loved building mine I am sure you will too. I have a build thread in the savannah forum that may assist you in some areas. Keep us updated with your progress and pictures. Start a build thread on the savannah forum. There are plenty of Sav builders on this forum so do not be afraid to ask anything Mark
IBob Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Hi and thank you. I see all manner of good and interesting info here. And I'm sure it will be a huge help to share the building of the Savannah. But first I must erect the shed; for while my wife, who is assurely The Sun and The Moon of Mine Eyes, is entirely supportive, when I speak of aircraft constructed in Swedish dining rooms and other clearly useful surplus spaces, she goes Awful Quiet, then proceeds to Bang Things Around. 2 2
kiwiaviator Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Looking forward to seeing your progress Bob. Two Savannahs in the Wairarapa :)
fallowdeer Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Will be three.......there's a kit in a box in the South Wai too...

Keep us updated with your progress and pictures. Start a build thread on the savannah forum. There are plenty of Sav builders on this forum so do not be afraid to ask anything Mark Thank you, Mark. My kit should ship some time this week, so probably about a month to arrival here. I'm looking to start a thread a bit closer to that date (though the questions are occurring already). In the meantime I am reading here and there, including your build thread, to get myself up to some sort of speed. I should say that, while I have a very broad lifetime's experience of DIY, and a reasonable knowledge of mechanical things, I don't know anything about building aeroplanes. Yet. But this interweb thingy is the most wonderful resource, and I am finding aviation people to be the most helpful and generous group. So it promises to be a pretty good voyage of discovery. But first, the shed...

But first, the shed... Hi Bob, welcome to the forum. Remember, the Wairarapa is a windy place so your shed better be VH rated (VH has nothing to do with Australian registration marks, VH in Enzed is "Very High" wind loading). Keep us posted!

Got a few 'ammers and plenty of nails if you need some after paying for that kit mate ! Phil

eightyknots Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Yes, make sure you start a build thread! As far as I know these are all the Savannah build threads on this forum from builders Down Under: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/another-new-savannah-xl-on-its-way.10493/ http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/norfolk-island-savannah-s.40762/ http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/savannah-s-dream-machine.132878/ http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/a-savannah-for-southern-nsw.29086/ And, some nice threads from our Scandinavian friends: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/and-a-savannah-s-in-sweden.110953/ http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/new-savannah-s-norway.54223/ You may wish to have a look at the Zenith CH-701 thread for some other tips: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/zenith-ch-701-thread.5964/page-24
eightyknots Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 There are also some helpful threads on specific issues. Two examples are: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/sun-visor-for-savannah.14267/ http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/savannah-weight-balance.113853/ Have a search around for some of the others.
