red750 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Went to the shops to buy tea this afternoon, and as I got out of the car a guy was skywriting a birthday greeting in the air. By the time I came out of the shops, the writing had pretty much disapated, and was completely gone before I could get home and grab the camera. Like the old joke: Is skywriting difficult? The white bit is easy, the blue background is the hard bit. 1
Yenn Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I remember seeing skywriting in Joburg, South Africa, done by 5 aircraft in formation, line abreast and puffing out smoke to make the letters. Must have all been computer controlled and the writing was very clear. Pity I didn't get a photo. Never seen it anywhere else.
Guest ozzie Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Used to be really popular back in the sixties. used to sit on lawn and watch them spell out things like LUV (dog food), YOU NEED UNCLE SAM, remember the underarm spray deodorant, and a heap of other things. All done by one aircraft spelling out each letter with a continuous white trail, exciting as a kid wondering what the advert would be in the end. Banner towing along Sydney beaches was big as well.
