Lyndon Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 2 is below 1. I know this the manual states it. I believe 2 is below 3 as my Reg videos. But where is 1 in relation to 3. The Reg video shows below and above in two builds. Manual tells me nothing. Thanks Lyndon
Lyndon Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 All sorted. I had the front landing gear loneron upside down. Yep I'm an idiot but I worked it out before any rivets Lyndon
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 About to rivet up the floor. From underneath it will look nice from outside. But under the carpet not so good. Or vice a versa. Is it riveted from inside or outside ??? Thanks Lyndon
rick morawski Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 If its not specific about rivet direction then its your choice. I rivet from bottom up, as you say - looks better. I see from the second photo that you have the cabin side inside the floor, should be the other way, cabin side under the floor. See page below (highlight is mine). Chapter 15 FRONT FUSELAGE ASSEMBLY.pdf Chapter 15 FRONT FUSELAGE ASSEMBLY.pdf Chapter 15 FRONT FUSELAGE ASSEMBLY.pdf
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 I have the floor on the outside. Bugger. Mmm
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 I can't open your file.but I I know what you mean . Lyndon
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 As per Reg CD it's on the outside. That's what I went by
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Before I completely rivet it up some opinions please. Now is the time to get right. Thanks Lyndon
rick morawski Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I upload it again in a different format Basically it means the edges of the cabin side skin should be on the outside all the way around.
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Does that refer to the front panels. I did read read that in the manual early in the piece. Once again I'm only going by the video supplied in the kit ??? All very confusing. Lyndon

Once again I'm only going by the video supplied in the kit ??? All very confusing.Lyndon Hi Have you thought about getting a lot of images of where things come together on a correctly built savannah? I did this for my Nynja build although a varstly different build; the images i took and from other sources assisted me greatly. Nothing worse than having to de-rivet. Either you visit a Savannah or ask Reg or a sav owner to take the images put on a memory stick and send to you. Cheers and enjoy the build. Mike
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 The pics I have are from Reg. Thus the floor on the bottom. Thus the way its been put together. ??? The manual is not clear. So maybe that is where the confusion is. Just because a build is a particular way doesn't mean it is correct. I'm new to this so I have no idea. I can see pros and cons with the floor on the bottom and inside. I will ask Reg to confirm. Thanks Lyndon
Lyndon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Apparently the floor can be on the top or bottom. Makes no difference. But aesthetically looks better on top. Lyndon
Lyndon Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 All sorted. Looks better on the inside. Will rivet it up today. Thanks for all the input. Lyndon
Skee Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I have carpet on inside so i have the rivet head outward and the ugly end inwards hidden by carpet.
Lyndon Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Firewall holes not quite right. It's together but the holes don't quite line up. Any tips. Lyndon
Lyndon Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Firewall issues. I'm not happy to rivet it up yet in case I have wrong. I don't believe I have but ???. Am I missing something. Quite a few don't line up. Also I take the bottom engine mounts have to be drilled at some stage as there is no corresponding holes in the sheet and the fire wall.
Skee Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 same here for me, drill and rivet is what i did.
Lyndon Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 No worries. I will go ahead with this riveting. I would rather wait a day than drill em out . Thanks Lyndon
rankamateur Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yours is a different model Dennis! Tread carefully making new holes.
rankamateur Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The photo is too close for me to really see where you are working on.
rankamateur Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Lyndon your photos show the overlapping wholes but I can't be sure what you are working on. The firewall/windscreen is quite different on the VG to the XL/S. I drilled a few holes as I went along but really not that many, so if the holes are missing triple check before drilling. The engine frame holes do have to be drilled but not until the cabin frame is in place and the lower holes are bolted up to the two heavy extrusions under the front fuselage to locate it on the firewall.
