Kyle Communications Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I dont think it should be that close..are you sure you have fitted everything correctly
Kyle Communications Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The gap on mine is larger for sure
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 At this stage yes. I have had a quick look. Can't see anything that could be fitted backwards etc. But after a big sleep tomorrow is another day for a fresh look Lyndon
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Hard to see how close it is. The radius is quite sheltered ???
Kyle Communications Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Pics after and during painting...are you sure you havent got the end brackets wrong or something?...I know I had the internal pivots on the wrong sides and had to open the skins up and change them over
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Snap. My pivot s had the same part number Today I also discovered that I had a 50 50 chance and also got em wrong
Kyle Communications Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I will be down at the hangar tomorrow hopefully welding and fitting the new exhaust system pipes. I will try to remember to take some pics of the gaps in mine. if Roger is at his hangar I can check his tailplane as it is off his plane for painting as he has sold it. I will check his. His model is a Classic though not a VG
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Under side. Either the elevator or stabilizer has a woof in the middle Lyndon
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Leading edge of the elevator is not straight. No ribs in in the center so on the edge it's wide and in the center it's not as wide thus its about a 4 mm woof. A fix anyone ??? Lyndon
Lyndon Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 A better pic. You can see the leading edge to. Sharp as there in no rib. This makes it protrude Lyndon
Kyle Communications Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Yes well I had a look at mine and after seeing your pics that would certainly do it. You either need a new or refitted LE skin or hopefully the elevator frame is not bent that would also cause it
Lyndon Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Reg has advised it happens. Counter sunk rivets is the fix. I have also gently with a block of wood taken another 1mm of the leading edge in the middle. All good now. Thanks Lyndon 1
Lyndon Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 I'm doing the alerons. The tip looks like it's done with a3 rivets. Can't seem to find them anywhere. Am I missing something or is it just a matter of getting some rivets. If so are these the only parts that require them so I know what quantity to get. Lyndon

Go have a mummy look. I usually just drill the holes out and use a4 rivets. Cheers Rick
Lyndon Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 No worries. Cup of tea and I will have another look. If not A 4 will be fine ??? I read and if I'm correct. The alerons are staggered 16 mm. Eg not in line when fitted to the wings ??? Lyndon

Lyndon Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Thanks. Save me trying to figure it out.
rankamateur Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 When you have the frames built just check the alignment of the hinge extrusions. I visited one guy in North Queensland just after he sheeted the flaperons and discovered one of the frames had had the hinges put on the wrong way round and the holes were on the back face instead of the side face. Time to unsheet it and drill them out. Best time is before you sheet it. 1
Lyndon Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Outer Aldrin ???. I take it this is drilled when fitting on the wings. My manual shows a hole in it to bolt to the inner aleron ??? Thanks Lyndon
Skee Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Drilled later when assembled on wing with 18 +-1mm lower from outer aileron
Lyndon Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Fantastic. Lazy using the net but for me to get that answer from manual would take a week. Thanks Lyndon
Marty_d Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Drilled later when assembled on wing with 18 +-1mm lower from outer aileron Ah, finally a difference from the 701! I was reading the plans today on this as I'm working on the flaperons. 701 plans say inboard is 15-17 mm lower than outboard. 1
