Camel Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Received from RAPAC. Aeronautical Information Package (AIP) Supplement (SUP) H95/15 – VHF Frequency Change Ballina (BNA) 124.3 to 126.05 Effective 12 October 2015 has been issued. You can access the AIP SUP H95/15 via the Airservices website:http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/aip.asp. This email is intended to provide forward notification to aircrew, aircraft and ground operators, and air traffic control in relation to the upcoming changes to the Ballina (BNA) ‘on ground’ radio frequency.
Camel Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 I just looked on chart and they got it wrong as it was 124.2 not 124.3 ,hope the rest is right ! Should make communication a little easier with its own frequency.
Chocolate Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Just got new Vtc. 1:250000 in today's mail. Still says 124.2 for Ballina. . So is that correct?
eightyknots Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Will they still monitor the old (126.05 MHz) frequency for a certain overlap period?
01rmb Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 124.2 is correct for the ctaf. 124.3 is shown in ersa as the ground frequency for Brisbane centre whilst 120.3 is the area frequency for Brisbane centre (in the air). The change of the bne cen ground frequency from 124.3 to 126.05 looks to provide better separation from the ctaf frequency.
Camel Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Thanks 01rmb, seems I misunderstood it not having local knowledge. There is a lot of airstrips on that CTAF frequency.
01rmb Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Not being on the ground at Ballina I had to look it up myself since I didn't know they had a seperate atc frequency on the ground. I have been down that way a few times as it is nice to go to Evans Head. Nice spot and a F111 on display as a bonus. There can be a bit of chatter with Casino, Lismore, Ballina and Evans Head on the same ctaf but the times I have been down that way it has not been too bad. Once I have had a virgin RPT be a little shy with comms and whilst I was traveling north up the coast. I was holding to the south to let him take off but no response from him. I ended having to relay my intentions via atc.
