Geoff13 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Whilst sitting at the wharf for over 2 hours today I opened up my Oz Runways to do a little bit of work on a trip I am planning. It is the first time I have seen it but every Restricted Area within SE Qld and Northern NSW was active. The map was almost totally red. Could have made for some interesting flying out there today. Even Amberly had every part of their area active. It is common to see parts of it but I have never before seen it all Active. So is there some big military exercise on or has the Queen dropped in for a visit unannounced?
Happyflyer Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Did you check the restricted areas on NAIPS to see it wasn't just a glitch on Oz Runways?
rhysmcc Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 It must have been your ozrunways because it wasn't all active, r639 was the only one I've come across today.
SDQDI Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 It must have been your ozrunways because it wasn't all active, r639 was the only one I've come across today. I'm pretty sure r559 was active when I was flying home this am, I heard something about it on area as well as saw the red shading on ozrunways. I didn't take any notice of any other areas but was only 5-10 nm off 559 so was watching it:private eyes:

Ryanm Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Very good reason to check the actual NOTAMs rather than relying solely on the map screen. 1

Pearo Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Very good reason to check the actual NOTAMs rather than relying solely on the map screen. This is the best advice. Please follow. 1
