Guest ozzie Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/no-serious-injuries-in-katherine-gorge-plane-crash/story-fnk1w5xx-1227584549612?sv=78fd67f76916b7ef34164657d24fe8c3 There was another story on this on Facebook, i think with "Daily Mail" Cannot find that story now. It had a photo of the downed aircraft, believe it was a RV8 ?? heavily damaged but pilot was ok. lucky was in a bit of a cleared area. I've skydived not far away at Manbaloo and that area is loaded with termite mounds. If he hit one of them it would have shattered the aircraft.
Guest ozzie Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 http://wnews.org/Pilot-escapes-injury-in-light-au-70855.html Here it is
Downunder Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 RAAF rescue chopper at the scene in 10 minutes. Good on you fellas! 3
Guest ozzie Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Lucky no termite mounds in that area. Did some jumps not far away at Manbaloo and during the briefing on the area was told if landing out and coming down in a tight area and if i had a choice of hitting either a tree or termite mound to pick the tree as they are softer.
