planedriver Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Fortunately a very good outcome for all concerned. Good that the fuel gauge wasn't too far south.
Guest ozzie Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 This has happened a couple of times now. Fortunately we have learned from this when it happened here some years ago. A small bootie on the leg of the jumpsuit that slips over the toes of the shoe can get caught on a standard Cessna step. These are removed here and a more substantial step is put in place. Lucky the jumper had his hook knife, took a while for him to remember. Pilot or the aircraft owner is at fault here as it is a requirement to carry a mother of a bowie knife in the aircraft.
Marty_d Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I'm confused as to how he managed to injure his hand with the hook knife. If it was anything like the one I used to use for hang gliding, there was no way you could cut yourself with it.
Marty_d Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 That's what I mean... the slot with the blades in it was too small to allow a finger. You could let a kid play with it. (They may end up looking like Chopper Read, but their fingers would be safe.)
Guest ozzie Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I have a early model wide mouth 'Jack the Ripper' hook knife that will cut your thumb off no problems. Even slashing away madly with the little ones will cut a finger down to the bone. May not have even been the knife that did the damage.
fly_tornado Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 i reckon being swung by your ankle from a flying plane for 30 minutes would make your brain fairly well scrambled 1
