stevek Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Hi. I am looking for information on the grass strip at Rodds Bay near Benaraby, SW of Gladstone. Was wondering who owns/runs the strip and permissions required for landing. Steve
Yenn Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Rodds bay is my home strip. Owner is Bob Keene 0403862094. A group of us call it home and do the maintenance, Usually there on Sundays. Strip is 13 - 31 length approx 800m width 30 plus m grass. Strip is uphill in 13 direction, making that the preferred landing direction with up to 5 knots of tail wind. Fully fenced to keep cattle off. There is a house which appears to be in the strip, but it is just surrounded by mown grass. No fuel available on site, servo is 12km away at Benaraby. It would be a courtesy to ring Bob for permission, but he is hard to get. I don't see a problem if you just arrive, but PM me and I would be able to help you if needed. 2
stevek Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 Thank Yenn. I have a friend at Boyne Island and was looking for somewhere close to land. He suggested Rodds Bay. Not sure when I would be likely to actually make the trip. Steve.
