Graham Pukallus Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 At Caloundra Airport today and spotted a New Highlander Superstol outside AMS 's Hangar. I had a general chat to one of the engineers who said they are flying the 25 hours off on this VH Experimental registered Highlander Super STOL Aircraft. I later spoke to Mark Radford ( Director of AMS ) who kindly let me sit in the aircraft and went through explaining the set up of this aircraft and gave me his initial impressions of flying it, all very interesting and informative. This is a very full on STOL aircraft but with a very good cruise of 85 kts at 4,800 and 95 kts at 5600 RPM, from a Rotax 914. I was very impressed with the workmanship and functionality and believe this aircraft is a top contender for someone who is serious about STOL Flying with good X Country attributes. I am looking forward to booking a flight with Mark when the 25 hours are completed, after which I am sure I will be very impressed indeed. Here are some photos, note : that there is some final trim to the luggage compartment etc to be added before final completion of this aircraft, for more detailed info call Mark at AMS Caloundra on 0414394754. Icarus Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Looks like a tough rig that can go almost anywhere. Crazy what can be done in one. Just check your fuel for water , or this may happen http://www.flyingmag.com/technique/accidents/water-fuel-blamed-just-aircraft-superstol-crash Cant believe they both walked away un injured.
rick morawski Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Looks beastly. Hope it comes with a stepladder.
