Have they been reading KGB manifesto's? The last CEO after a very short time in the job was going to sue people who didn't say nice things about what he was doing.. They are a long way from getting it right it seems. Might be better if they got "AUTHORITY" out of their name and included something like "FACILITATOR". and wrote stuff people could understand (no ambiguity) and fly by and trust .Nev

NOBODY should be able to access metadata without a warrant. It's contrary to our system that allows the judiciary to oversight the actions of administrative government and it opens the door for incredible abuse.

 

If we allow those whose actions we abhor to cause us to continue to lower our standards as a free, democratic country where the rule of law attains we will eventually be just as restrictive a society as the one they espouse.

 

The USA stepped back from this path when it finally realised what Hoover and his cronies were doing to its citizens and we should think long and hard before we let our legislators take knee-jerk reactions that will undoubtedly be open to corrupt practices.

 

If metadata is to be accessible without warrant, I sincerely hope it will be confined to national security only.

 

The thought of CASA chasing posters of adverse comments or medical information or anything else without judicial oversight is Owellian.

It is common knowledge that within the CASA regime, some of them consider that all Pilots & Aircraft Owners in Australia are "CRIMINALS" with the reasoning that there are a lot that havn't been caught yet . One wonders how many of the CASA employees don't have 'SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET '

One of the few places you can land with your wheels up (Not on a seaplane) and still have a job. They wrote off a SAV Riviera. testing.. playing with it.. I think there was something with a Metro. They used to send someone along on the overseas conversion courses, ostensibly to make sure a standard was adhered to.(paid for by the company). No genius noticed. Nev

Just like Attorney-General George Brandis when he first proposed metadata access laws, I doubt there is anyone in CASA who actually knows what metadata is.

They have already accessed it with a warrant...its access without judicial oversight that leads to corruption.

 

VicPol has just taken action against several members who have been unlawfully accessing the police database to sexually harass women who are already victims of family violence or other crimes.

Landed a HS-125 sans gear back a few years. Two of them in a Bonanza had a mid air at Tocumwal. There was another incident where they clipped the props of a twin during a gear-up and flew it back to base. There is a long, and not-so-distinguished, list of accidents/incidents with the regulators people involved. And yes - the metadata trawling is a concern, but they already trawl aviation forums such as this one - so what extra will they learn. U-tube must be a target-rich environment for them! happy days,

They put one in on its belly in the mid-70's in a Baron at Karratha, I think it was. Got all excited because they heard the "phantom" was on the ground there and they thought they had him.

 

The phantom was an unlicensed pilot flying an unregistered PA28 who live somewhere in that Gascoyne-Ashburton area who everyone knew but no one was saying.

 

They roared in overhead, saw the miscreant parked near the terminal, whipped it around and put it down.

 

He allegedly waved as he taxied past...

With all the asic and other crap going on, I would be very surprised if there was not more phantoms around the place.

If CASA was concerned about safety something would be done about this ! They are professional IDIOTS ! Absolutely STUPID ! CASA have passed the STUPID test and do not care about safety ! They are FOOLS and only interested in petty things ! I can not insult CASA enough without swearing ! And their interested in meta data !

There has been some discussion here about 'crashed aircraft' and #casa involvement.

 

Look at the deaths of two pilots in Darwin, which rumour has the local FOI at the time directing how the procedure was done.

 

RESULT: Lost aircraft and two deaths in a manoeuvre that could never be achieved.
