revsmith Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 we have a couple of ailing parents at toogoom north of hervey bay, and was wondering if the there was any private airstrip nearby for to come visit them, that may allow us to land.
Camel Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Out of interest, just snooping around looking on maps and google earth I saw a strip at Craignish. Googled again and found this, http://www.sqpc.org.au/clubs-1/drop-zones-and-clubs . The second listing ! Good luck !
MGADriver Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi, Hervey Bay is the closest ... but ... there is also a private air park at Pacific Haven just out of Howard which is about 30 minutes from Toogoom. There is also a private strip just out of Burrum Heads (on the right as you head out towards Howard) fronting the road however the last time I went past even though it was well maintained it had the gables across the strip. Further afield there is the Childers strip (about 40 minutes) and Maryborough (also about 40 minutes). Happy hunting ...
WayneL Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Probably no real help but I remember a property on Beelbi Creek road that had a strip. Looking on google earth it is the first cleared property on the right past the the treed property when travelling away from the Pialba - Burrum heads road. On the right just past the slight right hand kink in the road. Remember looking back in 2009 when it was for sale for $750K approx. There is also an airstrip on Toogoom Island on the northern side of the Beelbi creek mouth. Was for sale around the same time as above property, price was about 4MIL. did have cabins on property and was marketed to small resort buyers. You could try contacting the local real estate to see if they can help with contacts. Mark Pearce from Pacific Haven may have better updated local knowledge, some members of this forum will have his details that they can pass on to you. Wayne.
revsmith Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 thank you all , checked out the burrum hds, one but found locked gate, and neighbours thought it no longer used , the beelbee crk road one no longer exsist and same with toogoom island one. shall continue to drive up , just thought a strip would be usefull in the event of medical urgency
